HOW TO WEAR BLUE BROWN EYES | FT. MAKEUP STORE MICROSHADOW 'VOLGA'

Today I'm basing this look around Make Up Store's Microshadow in the shade 'Volga' - a beautiful warm brown with blue duochrome. Agh it's so pretty and makes me want all of the shadows!
Even though it's a lovely colour I was a bit stuck on how I could incorporate it into a look, so if you're stuck for ideas here you are!
Also, if you didn't know BeautyBay.com now sell MUS products! They recently had a 3 for 2 where I got this eyeshadow with a lip liner (which I use in this look) and their lipstick in Pretty Baby.

EYES | Firstly, I used MAC's pro longwear paint pot in Painterly as a base. I then used the shade Nooner from my Naked 3 palette as a crease colour. Taking some of MUS' microshadow in Volga onto a flat shadow brush I sprayed over with MAC's Fix Plus, to intensify the duochrome - I just wish my camera would pick up the intensity! Using a blending brush I took a small amount of Volga and blended this in with the crease colour. To transition the two colours I went back in with nooner and blend blend blend. Then taking Strange from the Naked 3 palette I used this along my brow bone and blended out Nooner with this. Layering and blending each shade with transitional colours is really key for a seamless blend. For the bottom lid/undereye I went in with the tiniest amount of Volga and did the same process of blending with Nooner and Strange.
I decided to create a wing, this is optional but I think it tied everything together. I then highlighted my inner corner and the center lid using Make Up Revolutions Awesome Metals in Rose Gold - it's exactly the same as the Stila Magnificent Metals but a fraction of the price! I actually used this dry and just dabbed with my finger rather than mixing with the liquid primer.

LIPS | For the lips used Make Up Stores lip liner in My Precious Coral, and then went over with Make Up Academy's Lipstick in Shade 16 Nectar (their lipsticks are literally £1) then used a clear gloss on top for a glossy finish.

Hope you enjoyed this post & got some inspiration or ideas for your duochrome shadows!

DRUGSTORE/AFFORDABLE LOOK | PINK GLAM EYES & SOFT PINK OMBRE LIPS

Les Yeux -
Using NYX eye pencil in white I covered the whole lid to work as a base for the shadow.
I then used Maybelline 24hr Colour Tattoo in Pink Gold on the outer half of the lid.
Using ELF's mineral eyeshadow in Sweet, I packed that ontop of where I placed the Colour Tattoo base.
Using ELF's mineral eyeshadow in Angelic, I packed that on the inner half of the lid, ontop of the white base.
Using my Sleek iDivine palette in 'Oh So Special' I ran 'The Mail' through the crease as a transition colour for the darker colours we will be using.
From the same palette I placed 'Celebrate' on the outer third, then 'Noir' on the outermost part of the lid to gradiate into 'Celebrate'
I once again ran 'The Mail' through the crease to transition and blend the colours together.
I used the same sequence and techniques for the bottom lid and highlighted the brow bone with ELF's mineral eyeshadow in 'Angelic.'
I also created a strong cat eye using Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Liner, to create a precise and sharp line I used the old tape trick, works every time!

LIPS -
For the lips I wanted a soft pink ombre lip to tie in with the pink tones on the lid.
I used ELF's prime & plump, but just the primer side to erase the pigment in my lips.
I then over-lined my lips with ELF's retractable lip liner in Natural - as the name suggests it's a natural tone which doesn't match the choice of lip colour however as I'm over-lining this creates a realistic shadow, making your lips much more believable haha.
I used MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquer in Serene as a base, then placed NYX Black Label lipstick in India in the center of my lid, then Lime Crime's Opaque lipstick in Geradium around the edges/corners of my lips.
To blend the two colours together I used dabbing motions, rubbing your lips together usually does the trick however I found this didn't work as much with a matte lip.
To neaten the edges I used Dainty Doll Concealer with an angled brush.

REVIEW+SWATCH: Dainty Doll Concealer by Nicola Roberts

I PRESENT TO YOU THE ANSWER TO EVERY PALE PERSON'S PRAYERS
Hey everyone,
today I'll be reviewing & providing swatches of the Dainty Doll Concealer from the Dainty Doll cosmetic line created by Nicola Roberts.
I was interested by this line because as a member of the pale folk it can be so difficult to find the perfect shade for your skin when you're whiter than a member of the KKK.

I bought the lightest shade 001 Abracadabra and this colour is literally just slightly off-white. She really catered for the palest of the pale. Admittedly, it was too light for me BUT this makes for a great highlighter which means you can still use this as an under-eye concealer.
Finding a highlighter light enough for pale skin can also be tough so I would highly recommend using this.

I found it to be very pigmented and creamy, and I could easily blend it out to create a highlighted effect. The concealer is oil-based, and used with a water-based foundation I found it lasted 3-4 hours but by the time I came home from Uni (7 and a half hours) it seemed to have vanished. However it's common knowledge that water doesn't mix with oil so this was likely to happen anyway.
The point of this is that her liquid foundation is in-fact water based, which means using Dainty Doll foundation and concealer would not last very long as a combination, which is a shame because the shades are perfect for pale skin.

Swatches:

These swatches are from just one swipe of the concealer, I'm very impressed with the coverage and most of all how light it is! By the way my arms are more tan than my face, I'd say the concealer is 2 shades lighter than my face, you could get away with no contour powder/bronzer for a subtle look.

I hope this blog post helped anyone with any questions concerning Dainty Doll cosmetics, have a great day!
